Strangled, broken ribs
They will never be the same
Beauty has a price
One thing I did notice at the Seneca Falls Women’s Rights
National Historical Park was that Elizabeth Stanton and Susan Anthony were idolized
and praised. While both these women have made note-worthy accomplishments, the
Historical Park falsifies these two women’s true actions by not showing the
oppressive and racist ideals behind some of their actions.
I thought this image was very important because it embodies
a lot of the ideas we have been talking about. We talked about stereotypes of
the ideal mother, the ideal worker, and the ideal daughter. We also talked
about how men are often put in categories as well and how due to their “biological
characteristics” they are seen as figures of strength, independence, and
solidarity. In this image, one of the quotes says, “Big-boys don’t cry”. In
society is we push boys to “act more like a man” and to suppress their
feelings, we are denying them the ability to fully express themselves.
